The Engineering Department
The Engineering Department has the responsibility to oversee infrastructure improvements within the city in order to provide technical assistance to the Mayor and City Council, and to extend such assistance to various boards and commissions of Westfield. These responsibilities include design, contract administration, and construction supervision as well as reviewing plans and inspecting work for the Planning Board, Conservation Commission and Flood Control Commission. Some of the projects that the Engineering Department oversees include roadway improvements, storm drains, sanitary sewers, sidewalks, waterways, and other projects for the Board of Public Works, Water Commission, and others as needed.
The Engineering Department is also responsible for Westfield's Assessor's Maps and Geographic Information System (GIS).
