Single Stream Recycling is here!

Effective January 5, 2015 the City implemented the single stream recycling program. This new program is beneficial to our community both financially and environmentally. Together we can reduce trash hauling costs and increase recycling tonnages for our City.

The 96 gallon grey containers previously used for trash have been designated as the new recycling container. It will now be much easier to recycle. Feel free to mix paper, glass, bottles, cans and cardboard in the 96 gallon grey container, there is no longer a need to sort these items. Not only is this a wheeled container, making it easier to get your recyclable material to the curb, it is also much larger than the recycling bins used previously and can accommodate more recyclables.

Each residence has been provided with a new 65 gallon burgundy container which is to be used for household trash.

For a comprehensive listing of what can and cannot be recycled, please visit the website of the Materials Recycling Facility where our recycling is processed.

Please note that nothing has changed with the curbside collection process. Trash is still collected once per week and recycling collected every other week. Please see the 2018 curbside collection calendar and curbside collection routes by street for more information.

This new system makes recycling more efficient and convenient as well as assisting in conserving our resources and protecting the environment. Thank you for your participation in making Westfield a cleaner, greener community.
